Following a rebrand of the L.A.-based architectural elements studio their father started in the ’70s, brothers Dion and Arin Der are taking PINKYS to the next level.

Before he fled his home country of Iran with his wife and two sons for Los Angeles, Vic Der was a jazz drummer. Upon arrival in L.A., he changed course, leaning into the craft of ironwork and starting a business producing high-quality iron windows and doors—all with an artistic sensibility. “Our father was masterful in creating expressionist ironwork,” says Arin Der, who, along with brother Dion Der, is ensuring the PINKYS legacy lives on. “He poured the same passion and improvisational spirit of jazz into his ironwork. In our work, we continue to improvise. Our products get better every year because we are a design-first company, always open to innovating, evolving, learning and adjusting, just like our father did.”
the brothers officially took over the company in 2014, and since then, have quietly built the brand into the infuential designer go-to it is today. This year, they
opened a showroom in Vernon that houses the largest inventory of iron doors and steel windows in the country. they’ve also focused on integrating technology, building a comprehensive website with transparent pricing, something uncommon in the industry. As well, PINKYS uses customer feedback to upgrade and improve its products year after year. “Just like an iPhone improves every year, so does a PINKYS door,” Arin explains.
Design and artistry continue to be a central focus, but in a different, more modernized way. “When Dion and I took over the business several years ago, it was important for us to continue his legacy while expanding our offerings independent of our father’s work,” Arin says. “PINKYS’ evolution from ironworks into a more clean, contemporary collection of iron doors and steel windows happened under our leadership and with our father’s blessing.”
