What is Simulated Divided Lite (SDL)?

SDL applies a grid of muntin bars to the surface of a single insulating glass unit (IGU), creating the appearance of divided panes without physically separating the glass. Because the glazing is unbroken, SDL assemblies offer less interior-exterior contact and higher energy efficiency, while delivering the divided-lite look at a lower material and labor cost.

Because SDL is one continuous IGU, there's only one seal to maintain per unit instead of many. That makes construction and long-term upkeep simpler than a multi-pane assembly.
