What Is Energy Efficiency Glazing?

Energy efficiency glazing reduces unwanted heat transfer through the glass, cutting cooling and heating loads without requiring a tradeoff in daylight. Every Studio Steel assembly includes a rated Low-E coating as standard. SB 70 is available as an upgrade from that standard coating, for projects that need a higher level of solar control performance.

Standard Low-E is the baseline every Studio Steel assembly includes: a coating that reflects infrared heat while passing visible light, reducing heat transfer compared to uncoated glass. SB 70 is a triple-silver Low-E coating that goes further, pairing a lower solar heat gain coefficient with high visible light transmission, for projects where standard performance isn't enough.

The projects that call for the SB 70 upgrade tend to share a common thread: large glazing areas, curtain walls, or facades with heavy, sustained solar exposure, where controlling heat gain without sacrificing daylight is the priority.
