Glazing Options Within the 31 mm Capacity
W40 accepts single glazing, dual-pane IGUs, and dual-pane glazing with a laminated lite, up to 31 mm total unit thickness. Within the solid hot-rolled range, W40 covers a broader set of IGU configurations than the W20, the choice when hot-rolled construction is required and glazing thickness is the constraint. Triple-pane glazing is not available in the W40; the W50 TB and W75 TB thermally broken systems support triple-pane where the added profile depth allows it.

Built for larger openings and heavier glazing.
W40 comes in a complete range of thick solid-steel profiles built for strength. Where the W20 is the finer, more delicate profile, W40 carries larger openings and heavier glazing loads, still within a slim frame. Its glazing capacity covers a broader range of IGUs than the W20, handling most exterior double-pane work in a hot-rolled frame. When glazing thickness drives the selection and hot-rolled construction is required, W40 is the system within the solid-steel range.
The W40 profile is also available as the thermally broken W50 TB, which adds a high-density polyurethane thermal break and raises glazing to 38 mm with the same sightlines, for projects where energy code compliance is required.

W40 is hot-rolled solid steel with no thermal break, produced by the same hot-rolling technique as the W20. The process gives the same surface character: a slight variation that reads as material authenticity rather than the uniform face of a machine-formed section.
