What Is Low-E Glass?
The coating lowers U-factor compared to standard uncoated glass, reducing heat transfer in both directions, less heat entering during summer, less heat escaping during winter, without darkening the glass or altering its optical clarity.

Low-E coatings reduce UV transmission, which helps protect interior furnishings, flooring, and finishes from sun-related fading over time.
Low-E is included standard with every Studio Steel assembly, not an optional add-on. For projects that need additional solar control beyond the standard coating, large glazing areas or facades with heavy solar exposure, SB 70 is available as an upgrade.
Low-E glass is specified across exterior applications broadly: office buildings, schools, healthcare facilities, retail spaces, government buildings, multifamily developments, and residential projects, anywhere exterior glazing is part of the building envelope.
