If you have a rough opening (no door or door frame installed), use a measuring tape to get the measurements of the height and the width. Your rough opening should be 1 inch larger than the door’s measurements (1 BIGGER THAN THE HEIGHT AND 1 BIGGER ON THE WIDTH) in order to account for leveling of the door and the frame. **IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT 1/2 INCH IS LEFT ON THE TOP AND EACH SIDE. Once you get your rough opening size, subtract 1 inch from the height and the width, and that will be your door size.

Glass size is gone over in “GLASS” section. Threshold and weatherstripping are also gone over in other areas.

Our doors are 2 inches thick and have a 2 & ¾ inch bore hole backsets for handles and locks, which means they can accommodate many standard locks.

Our doors and frames are handmade from steel and are fitted perfectly to the frame that they are sold with. Because of this, frames and doors are not interchangeable.

If you’re located in a cold climate area, you’ll need a thermal break door. Where most steel doors will gather moisture on the inside and pool their precipitation in your house, our thermally broken doors are specially engineered to separate the two side of your door, blocking the heat transfer, and leaving the cold weather outside.

Our selection of exterior thermally broken doors provide superior protection from the elements. Pinky's modern thermally broken iron and steel doors will keep you comfortable all winter long. With a variety of styles and designs to choose from, we have the perfect selection of thermally broken doors for every taste.

Some of the exact specifications and measurements of thermally broken doors vary slightly form our normal AIR series, so double check specs on that door’s information page before before purchasing.

Can I get a size that is not listed here?

Will PINKYS come and measure my doorway?
Unfortunately we do not do home visits, however we do have the information needed for you or a contractor to make the correct measurements needed.

Do I need a contractor to measure for me?
No, you do not, however some people are more comfortable having their contractor make the measurement. Please refer back the “How to measure” video or writing in the “Size” section if this informational pop-up.

Is this the size of the door, or the frame?
We measure the frame only because all of our doors come with the hand made frame that they were made to be hung on.

How big is the actual door if this is the measurement of the frame?
Our standard steel doors are 1 inch smaller on the height and 1 inch smaller on each side of the frame.

Is there an install guide for this?
Yes! We have video guides explaining each and every step of the process, as well as a full installation guide. The videos and the pdf will be provided to you with your door on easy to scan QR codes on our packaging.

How do I measure for my door?

If you have a rough opening (no door or door frame installed), use a measuring tape to get the measurements of the height and the width. Your rough opening should be 1 inch larger than the door’s measurements (1 BIGGER THAN THE HEIGHT AND 1 BIGGER ON THE WIDTH) in order to account for leveling of the door and the frame. **IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT 1/2 INCH IS LEFT ON THE TOP AND EACH SIDE. Once you get your rough opening size, subtract 1 inch from the height and the width, and that will be your door size.

If you are measuring a door that already has another door frame in it’s place, you can either take off the upper door trim and measure from the edge of each stud, which will get you your rough opening size as outlined above, or you can measure from the inside of your door jamb to the other side and one from the floor to the top of the inside of your door jamb. Once you get those measurement, add an inch and ½ on each side and you’ll have your rough opening size. Subtract 1 inch from each measurement, and you’ll have your door size from us.

With these measurements, go to our sizes and round to the nearest one. If the closest measurement we offer requires you to round up to our size, you should be able to move forward. If you must round down to our size, consult a contract about the sizing.

How much of an overhang do I need over my door?
Your door needs to have an overhang that is the same length as its height.

Can I measure for a new door if I currently have one in place?
Yes. Can I buy a door and then buy a transom separately afterwards? How will the measurements work?

No. The lights may not match perfectly if the doors are not made for eachother. Additionally, our standard doors are mounted to your rough opening using mounting tabs. However, our doors made for use with transoms or sidelights are made to bolt through the frame into the sidelights or transom so that the mounting remains seamless. You must buy your doors with their intended sidelights or transoms.
