Custom colors are available too—our automotive-grade system can match virtually any color.

No—white is available for interior applications only. Unlike our exterior finishes, which are engineered for long-term UV and weathering resistance, white is offered as an interior color, where those outdoor exposure conditions don't apply.

Yes. A TIGER electrostatic powder coat is one layer of our eight-stage coating system, applied over a cathodic E-coat and finished with a PPG fluorocarbon topcoat that carries the color. So the doors are both powder coated and topcoated—the powder coat adds hardness and build, and the PPG topcoat provides color and UV/weathering resistance.

The listed size refers to the frame. Every PINKYS door comes with the hand-made frame it was built to hang on, so we measure by the frame to reflect the complete unit you'll receive.

Yes, with one construction-specific exception. All SDL (Simulated Divided Lite) glass is tempered, since an SDL unit is one continuous insulating glass unit. For TDL (True Divided Lite), where an opening is physically divided into individual panes, each pane must have its longest side over 11.8" to be tempered—panes smaller than that can't be tempered, so very small TDL lites are the exception. The Studio Steel team confirms this during specification.

The main benefit is safety: tempered glass is heat-treated so that if it breaks, it fractures into small, blunt fragments rather than long, sharp shards—which is why building codes classify it as safety glazing for doors, sidelites, and low-height windows. It's also strong, roughly four to five times stronger than standard annealed glass of the same thickness, and it resists thermal stress better, making it well suited to exterior applications with direct sun and temperature swings. On Studio Steel, tempered glass is standard on every assembly, interior and exterior, so that safety-glazing requirement is already met wherever it applies.

Yes. Our thermally broken windows and doors are NFRC-certified as complete assemblies, tested across a range of configurations, with whole-unit U-factors as low as 0.21 for triple-glazed windows and 0.26 for triple-glazed doors. NFRC ratings apply to the whole unit—frame and glazing together—not the glass alone, and those certified values are what document energy-code compliance.

The "E" in Low-E stands for emissivity—a material's ability to emit radiant heat. Low-E glass has a microscopically thin metallic coating on the glass surface that reflects infrared heat while letting visible light pass through, so it reduces heat transfer in both directions (less heat in during summer, less heat out during winter) without darkening the glass or reducing clarity. It also cuts UV transmission, which helps protect interior furnishings and finishes from fading. On Studio Steel, a rated Low-E coating is included standard on every assembly.

Dual pane (also called double pane) describes the construction: an insulated glass unit (IGU) built from two panes separated by a sealed, argon-filled cavity that slows heat transfer between the interior and exterior. It's the standard configuration for Studio Steel exterior assemblies—both thermally broken and non-thermally broken—and every double pane build includes a Low-E coating as standard. "Dual pane" refers to the build, not the glass type: the unit can use tempered glass (standard on Studio Steel for safety) or laminated glass.

Yes. Doors with removable screens are available as Standard Sizes and Custom products only.
